GMC Diesel Sierra is One Tough Truck

The all new GMC Sierra 3500HD is one tough truck. Just ask PickupTrucks.com.

Available for test drives at Battison Auto Group in Duncan, Oklahoma, the Sierra with diesel and dual-rear wheel power beat other rigs in this macho competition. PickupTrucks.com sent each vehicle up 2,200 miles of high-grade inclines, descents and through oppressive heat while towing 19,400 lbs.

With 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 standard, Sierra 3500HD produces 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. It includes revised rear springs, spring shackles, cargo box mounts and cargo boxes. This allowed Sierra to tow 23,000 pounds with a fifth-wheel trailer - up from 21,700 pounds from previous model.

"When GMC says their trucks are 'Professional Grade' they absolutely mean it," Ted Nichols, general manager of a New Hampshire GMC dealership noted.1

"Every GMC truck is designed and built with the professional in mind. GMC owners are people who use their trucks to make a living, whether hauling livestock, construction equipment or anything else. They can't afford down time, so they chose the truck that will be there day-in and day-out."2
